What a perfect fun-filled summer weekend we've had....
Saturday morning we set out for some geocaching around St.Louis Park. Making our way through woods, along meandering trails (and a few swamps), the boys found 2 out of 3 caches Shane had in the GPS! After caching we spent a few hours at Westwood Nature Center; a favorite place for the boys to explore. It's an amazing Nature Center with miles of trails and boardwalks through woods and along a lake and marsh. The boys were in frog heaven and even spotted a garden snake!
After lunch and a short afternoon nap (let's be honest...I was the one who really needed the nap) we headed for Staring Lake Park. Determined to find more frogs, the boys set out exploring which ultimately lead us on a two-mile track around the lake (we all made it but El and I had a bit more trouble than Dad and Ky).
Sunday we packed a picnic lunch and headed to the beach at Bryant Lake in Eden Prairie. This was our first visit...what a find! Just a few miles from our home, Bryant Lake has a beautiful beach with clean shallow water for the boys to safely play in, docks for fishing, boats to rent, trails for hiking, changing rooms and concession stands. The boys had a blast digging and swimming and Shane took advantage of the opportunity to practice his fly fishing (he even caught three small largemouth bass).
Considering that today is actually our daughter's due date, I just appreciated the opportunity to relax in the sun!
Tonight...we rest...and wait :)
