fishing with joe

joe was kind enough to let me join him on lake minnetonka for an early morning outing to do some "bass" fishing today. i say "bass" with quotes because we ended up catching a number of fish other than bass as it turned out. well joe did anyway... :)

i ended up only catching one fish, but it was enough to make my day a successful one. this was officially the biggest fish i've ever caught! so i was like a kid in a candy store watching joe net my northern as i reeled it in.

i have definitely started an itch this morning that is going to be fueling a start to years of increased fishing.... my goal is to start learning how to fly fish, and joe has been generous enough to help me get on my feet this summer as we've been talking about fishing now for over a year off and on.... today was our first time out together, and it was glorious to be spending a day on the lake.

i'm looking forward to days in the future spent wading in midwestern rivers and streams as i begin actually taking what i'm learning from joe to the water..... not to mention a trip out west here and there. i'm hoping kyertin and eliot find that they share the bug as well.... ;)
