hay creek fly fishing

From Hay Creek Fly Fishing

From Hay Creek Fly Fishing

this last sunday (feb. 28th) i headed to hay creek with joe for an afternoon of fly fishing. for the first time, i headed to the stream equipped with a handful of self-tied flies (after our fly tying expo last week).

could that be why i had my first "skunk" fly fishing? i doubt it, and i didn't use my own flies all day, but nevertheless, i went trout-less for the first time. joe caught only one fish that day, but it was a very nice sized, 14-inch trout. one that'll make any fly fisherman's day in the midwest.

we had beautiful weather, and even received some cloud cover later in the day (although this brought down the temps quite a bit).

now we turn and focus our sights on the wisconsin opener approaching quickly. joe and i will head to the kinnickinnic this coming sunday, which will also be my first experience fishing the wisconsin streams. i can't wait.....

many, many thanks to my wonderful wife for allowing me the time to take part....
