Last weekend Shane and I embarked on yet another 'bucket list' journey; getting SCUBA certified. We could not be more pleased that Shane's Dad, Steve, decided to join us too! The first step in the process was to go to the SCUBA Center to collect our materials and get fitted for our snorkel, mask and fins. Believe it or not, this was an adventure in and of itself (ask about the fine gentleman who assisted us). The preclass work was much more extensive than any of us had anticipated, resulting in at least 20 hours of reading, watching videos, and taking quizzes. As you can imagine with our busy schedules, that was no small feat. But the book work, written tests, swimming test, and setting up/tearing down equipment a zillion times, all paid off. We had a blast learning and practicing our SCUBA skills and I'm pleased to say we all passed with flying colors! This January when we are in Florida with Shane's family, we will spend 2 half days taking our open water examinations and then we are all set! It will be March before we know it and Shane and I will be SCUBA diving in THAILAND!!
